nicoleta susanu's insight:

This call for proposals aims to identify organisations for which tasks falling within the plant health mission of the Animal & Plant Health unit can be entrusted by EFSA. In particular, these tasks regard the commodity risk assessment and/or assessment of commodity treatments for the evaluation of the technical dossiers sent by Third Countries for High Risk Plants.

Detailed descriptions of the tasks/activities:
Commodity risk assessment and/or assessment of treatments of commodities of high-risk plants, plant products and other objects, within the meaning of Art. 42(1) of Regulation (EU) 2016/2031, mainly from the following 13 taxa traded mostly as plants for planting for ornamental purposes: Acacia Mill., Albizia Durazz., Baunhinia L., Berberis L., Caesalpina L., Cassia L., Cornus L., Hamamelis L., Jasminus L., Ligustrum L., Lonicera L., Nerium L., Robinia L.. (with the exclusion of the species Albizzia julibrissin and Robinia pseudacacia, for which the work by EFSA is already completed).

Call for proposal: Smart monitoring of airborne plant pathogens: advances in aerobiology, and molecular diagnostics and remote sensing to support risk based plant health surveillance in the EU

Call for proposal: Smart monitoring of airborne plant pathogens: advances in aerobiology, and molecular diagnostics and remote sensing to support risk based plant health surveillance in the EU | EU FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT TIPS | Scoop.it
Call for proposals and guide for applicants Annex 1: Rules on eligibility of costs Annex 2: Draft grant agreement
nicoleta susanu's insight:

The overall objective of this Call is to facilitate scientific cooperation in the EU through the development and implementation of innovative joint projects, allowing for development of best practices and exchange of expertise in the fields of EFSA’s remit.

The specific objective of this thematic grant is to pilot the joint application of aerobiology, molecular diagnostic and/or remote sensing techniques for monitoring the occurrence and spread of airborne fungal plant pathogens within the EU. In this context, the consortium shall:

1) develop methodologies combining aerobiology, molecular diagnostic and/or remote sensing techniques to support risk based plant health surveillance of quarantine fungal plant pathogens in the EU.

2) validate the developed methodologies by performing a minimum of two case studies, of which at least one shall be on a quarantine plant pathogen, demonstrating its use to support risk based plant health surveillance of quarantine fungal plant pathogens in the EU; uncertainties, limitations and data gaps should be described and discussed.

3) develop strategies how the developed methodology can be transferred to other pathogens and other users.

Call for proposals: GP/EFSA/AFSCO/2016/01 - Methodology development in risk assessment | European Food Safety Authority

Call for proposals: GP/EFSA/AFSCO/2016/01 - Methodology development in risk assessment | European Food Safety Authority | EU FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT TIPS | Scoop.it
nicoleta susanu's insight:

The call is divided into three different lots:

Lot 1: Methods and systems for the identification of emerging food risks

Lot 2: Integrated methodologies for the risk assessment of mycotoxin mixtures in food and feed

Lot 3: Output-based methods for the assessment of the freedom of animal disease/infection

Objectives

The overall objective of Lot 1 is the establishment of a collaborative platform to support the current EFSA procedure for emerging risks identification. The platform should allow EU Member State authorities and EFSA to share knowledge, data and methods for the identification of emerging food-related risks in a rapid and effective manner.

The main objective of Lot 2 is to develop integrated innovative methods for the risk assessment of mixtures, using mycotoxins as a case study for the development of a holistic approach, from synthesis in primary production to effects on human health, animal health and environment. It is foreseen that these methods will be applied in the future by risk assessors dealing with mycotoxin mixtures for the food and feed area.

The main objective of Lot 3 is to develop a framework that could enable to evaluate, standardise and compare the outcomes of different control programmes for non-regulated diseases, with particular emphasis on the confidence of freedom at different level of aggregation (animal, herd, area, country, etc.)

Call for proposal- Detection and quantification of allergens in foods and minimum eliciting doses in food allergic individuals | European Food Safety Authority

Call for proposal- Detection and quantification of allergens in foods and minimum eliciting doses in food allergic individuals | European Food Safety Authority | EU FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT TIPS | Scoop.it
Call for proposals and guide for applicants Annex 1: Rules on eligibility of costs Annex 2: Draft grant agreement
nicoleta susanu's insight:

The specific objectives for projects are to:

1. Develop reference (harmonised) methodologies for the detection and quantification of allergens in foods, preferably in highly processed foods, which allow the comparison of results across laboratories. The comparability of results obtained by using the developed methodologies shall be demonstrated by the participating laboratories.

2. Generate good quality data on Minimum Eliciting Doses (MED) and Minimum Observed Eliciting Doses (MOED) for allergenic foods subject to mandatory labelling (except peanuts, eggs, milk, and hazelnuts) in food allergic individuals (both in adults and in children). Data should be obtained in dose-finding studies using appropriate protocols.
