Almost two years ago, I wrote a post ("Can we stop bashing Google+ now?") that I hoped would change the popular mindset about Google+. I was obviously naive. Google+ may have gained many new users since then, but the bashing has never stopped.

Google may kill its social network, Google+, following Vic Gundotra's departure.Google is reportedly planning to dismantle its social network, Google+. Google will consider Google+ a platform rather than a product, TechCrunch reports, citing "multiple sources. "This means that it will no longer exist as a social network aimed at competing with Facebook, but it still might be integrated into Google's existing products. The company has allegedly been shifting the teams that used to be at "the core" of Google+ and is moving more talent toward the Android team.... Via Jeff Domansky

I must admit that I'm one of those people who was kind of irritated when I started to hear that Google+ was ANOTHER social network I had to worry about. As if Facebook wasn't enough pain-in-the-ass. However, I will admit also that any property that Google has is probably going to be impossible to ignore simply because they clearly are going to give it preferential treatment (just like Blogger).
