How to Make and Post a Facebook Video Cover Image

How to Make and Post a Facebook Video Cover Image | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Over the past couple months, Facebook has been slowly rolling out the ability to add video cover images to Facebook pages. We first noticed it (and loved it!) on Buffer’s Facebook page. We’ve also been excited to see several of our customers use Animoto videos for their Facebook cover videos, including Kim Winey Photography and Carey Vines Photography.

Want to make a video cover for your Facebook page? We’ll show you how to see if you have access to the feature, how to make your video, and how to post it to your Facebook page....

How We Generated 1 Million Facebook Video Views: A HubSpot Experiment

How We Generated 1 Million Facebook Video Views: A HubSpot Experiment | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

As part of our previous social media strategy, our posts were connected to lead generation goals -- and most had a strong tie to our brand and promoting our content. Now, our content is all about our audience -- and not all about us. We needed to refocus and remember that our audience members are people, just like us. If we wouldn’t want to see a piece of content in our Facebook News Feeds, why would our audience? We wanted to test the effect of focusing our content on our audience -- what they want to learn about, what their goals are, and even what struggles they face.

In short, we wanted to be more social, and less promotional.

This doesn't mean we recommend doing away with sharing blog content or ebooks on social media entirely. After all, it's hard to come up with new ideas for creating social media videos to share every day of the week. We're just saying you shouldn't post a link to a blog post or ebook on Facebook and call it a day. Instead, get inspired by the ideas and salient points, and repurpose your content into Facebook videos, Instagram albums, or Snapchat Stories. You can still use the good ideas -- but use them to create native social media content that performs better for the medium.

If your current social media strategy sounds like our previous, all-about-us approach, don't worry -- read on to learn how we've changed things up.

Facebook Changes How Video Ranks in the News Feed (Algorithm Update) | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Short vs. long - which perform best?

But with this new focus on completion rates, you won't have to guess.

Consider this research from Nielsen on the importance placed on video completion rates:"Watching just three seconds of a video, how Facebook defines a video view, lifts recall by 47% and brand awareness by 32%. After viewing 10 second of a video, lift for those brand metrics rise to 74% and 65%, respectively."

Digging into your percentage totals will help you create better content that retains viewers from beginning to end. That could be your key differentiator....

Facebook Video for Marketers: Strategy for Future Success : Social Media Examiner

Facebook Video for Marketers: Strategy for Future Success : Social Media Examiner | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Jay says a lot of people do very well with YouTube videos, and just as many do well with Facebook videos. However, not too many people do equally well with both because each platform has a specific use case.

People watch YouTube as a replacement for television entertainment or they’re searching for how-to videos. On Facebook, videos appear in the news feed and can interrupt people while they’re on the platform.

At Convince & Convert, Jay says they advise clients to think about what the video is and under what circumstances people will want to watch it. Based on that assessment, choose one of the platforms as the primary home for the video.

I mention how views of The Last Jedi trailer on Facebook far surpassed views on YouTube within the first 30 minutes of its release. Jay responds by noting a few factors that might have contributed to that difference at that particular point in time....
