With so many companies using Instagram, and many people on the platform interacting with them, there was a desire from our business community to do more. So we listened. And, after hundreds of interviews with businesses, three key needs became clear—stand out, get insights and find new customers.
First, businesses want the ability to stand out on Instagram. Many companies, including a furniture store in San Francisco, shared that it would be easier for customers to email questions because comments are hard to track and take time to sift through. Second, businesses want a simple way to get insights. A retailer in Austin explained that many analytics are overwhelming and hard to apply to its marketing. And third, businesses want to reach even more customers. A do-it-yourself craft shop in New York City mentioned it’s always looking for quick ways to fill seats in class.
With these insights in mind, we set out to make Instagram work even better for businesses. So today, we’re excited to unveil our new Instagram Business Tools....

A few key takeaways from the infographic....

Since coming into existence in 2010, Instagram has given brands the opportunity to engage with their audience and tell their story through the power of visuals. The Facebook-owned app was one of the fastest growing major social networks in 2014, and is now home to more than 300 million accounts.
In addition to the network’s impressive growth, users are also highly engaged with the platform. Each day, half of all users use the app and spend an average of 21 minutes on the app. Top brands have quickly realized the potential Instagram presents. One of the limitations of Instagram as a social media marketing tool is that links in posts aren’t clickable. It’s not a deal-breaker — there are many other reasons to use Instagram as part of a marketing mix, including the ability to promote your brand with an active, young audience — but for businesses hoping to bring people back to their websites, the lack of hot links has always been a drawback.
Not a problem without a workaround, however.
Links in Instagram’s profile area are live, a fact that social media news publisher Mashable has been taking advantage of since last spring. Nearly every time Mashable posts on Instagram, it reminds users to click on the link in its profile to learn more about the post’s topic. Here’s how it looked on one of Mashable’s more clicked upon recent Instagram posts...

On Tuesday, Instagram introduced Instagram Stories, a new feature with remarkable similarities to Snapchat.
Stories provides Instagram users with a place to share posts at a higher frequency. While Instagram photos are typically reserved for perfectly composed shots, Stories allows you to share the little moments that may not be as picture-perfect. Instagram is positioning this feature as a solution to overposting. Stories live in a separate space, and you can post as frequently as you want without worrying about over saturating your friends’ feeds or filling the grid on your profile page.
So how do you build a Story? And what does this mean for your strategy? Don't worry. We've got you covered.
For a while now, it's been clear that Instagram isn't just a social network for foodies and teenagers. In fact, according to Pew Research Center, a whopping 26% of adult internet users use Instagram.
Given the number of people using Instagram, it's surprising how few businesses have adopted the platform -- or even taken it seriously. In a world where visual content has become a crucial part of any business' marketing strategy, Instagram presents a unique opportunity to visually represent your brand, celebrate its personality, and keep it top-of-mind for all those users who scroll through their Instagram feeds every single day.
Although they're few and far between, there are some brands out there -- in every industry, and with every type of target customer -- who are doing really, really well on Instagram.
Ready to get inspired? Check out this list of brands that are thriving on Instagram right now, and what about their posts sets them apart....
Right off the bat, Instagram makes itself more difficult than other social media networks. Instead of posting anything you please, you’re forced to use a picture or video with every post – and that picture or video is the main focus of your post.
That means you’re constantly creating new visual content – if you’re not, others who are creating new eye-catching Instagram content will pull right ahead. Especially in the jewelry and fashion industries, Instagram has fierce competition for viewers’ attention.
The best way to get ahead is to do something truly unique and creative that your competitors aren’t doing. But everyone needs to start somewhere.
We’ll go over three general Instagram marketing strategies and give you real examples of brands using each one so you have the resources to get started right away....
