5 Best Tools for Coming Up with the Perfect Domain Name

5 Best Tools for Coming Up with the Perfect Domain Name | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Domain names have always had an impact in the branding and SEO of online businesses. In the past, online marketers used “Exact Match Domains” or EMDs, which are domain names that are the same as a key phrase they are targeting. Although this is no longer as effective after Google’s EMD update in 2012, coming up with a domain name that’s relevant and conveys a meaningful message to your would-be visitors. Adding a keyword or two in the domain name has also shown to increase a website’s performance in ads and SERP listings.

Given that domain names cannot be changed when registered, it is essential for businesses and bloggers to plan very carefully ahead. This is one of the most important decisions you should make for your site to take off. To help you determine the perfect domain name for your site, here are five of the best tools out there you should consider using....

What is the future of blogging?

What is the future of blogging? | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Here’s my summary view of the current state of “blogging:”

-  Written content is an important pillar of “rich content” and will remain so although people will diversify the way they consume content.

-  Our written content will look less like traditional blogs as we publish on increasingly diverse platforms.

-  The Content Shock of information density will prevent some businesses from succeeding with any kind of content marketing strategy as the competition increases and the cost of success goes up.

-  Content is becoming less effective as an inbound “magnet” as platforms become the publishers and move eyeballs away from our home base.

-  To win the battle for attention, focus must be placed on distribution as an “ignition” strategy.

At first glance, this projection may seem bleak. It’s not. This just means things are changing and the rewards will come to those who can make the transformation....

6 Colorful Websites for Design Inspiration - 'Net Features - Website Magazine

6 Colorful Websites for Design Inspiration - 'Net Features - Website Magazine | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Light colors are easy on the eye, which means that they aren’t as likely to take attention away from the main goal or goals of a site. Negative space, on the other hand, makes websites look less cluttered and easier to navigate. Even though negative space can actually be filled with any color, white is typically the safest bet. For example, a brand like Best Buy is associated with the colors blue and yellow, but the company primarily uses these colors in the navigation menu of its site, which leaves plenty of whitespace to help guide visitors' eyes to calls-to-action (CTAs) like "Shop" and "Find out more."

Some brands, however, are okay with challenging the rules of Web design and are doing so with colorful designs that are pushing the best-practice boundaries. Although colorful designs are certainly not for everyone, they can be successful when they are executed correctly and used for the right brand. For some inspiration, check out the six colorful websites featured below...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Nothing like a little design inspiration in these six websites provide that in spades.

If you pay attention to web and graphic design styles, you may have noticed that this has been something of a trend in recent years. You might see blurred images popping up in website hero headers (the large images that extend the whole width of a page) or as site backgrounds, or to set off typography in graphic design.

But the design trends that stick around, like this one, usually do because they’re functional as well as beautiful — they have a purpose beyond just following the crowd or experimenting with a new look just because you can. Good trends do something to improve your designs.

As one of the most successful premium theme shops in the business, Elegant Themes is best known for its top of the line themes and plugins. But today, I’m going to do something a little bit different. I’m going to roundup some of my personal favorite, free WordPress themes.

The Best Free WordPress Themes Available in 2015The themes I’ve collected below are all available via the official WordPress plugin repository. I selected most of them based on a combination of their popularity, user rating, and design. Those that do not have particularly high download counts or that are relatively new and untested made the cut due to unique design and/or standout plugin compatibility....
