How to Optimize Video for Different Social Media Channels

How to Optimize Video for Different Social Media Channels | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Social video: it’s kind of a big deal. People watch more than 100 million hours of video on Facebook every single day, and YouTube reaches more viewers in the coveted 18- to 49-year-old demographic than any cable network in the United States. Snapchat has been reported to have 10 billion video views every day.

While those are already big numbers, the volume of social videos out there is still increasing. Tweets with videos increased more than 50 percent in the first half of 2016, and Cisco predicts that nearly 1 million minutes of video content will cross global IP networks every second by 2020. If you’re not incorporating social video into your online strategy, you’re going to be left behind.

But with so many videos popping up in social media feeds, it takes some planning to ensure your video content isn’t lost in the noise. We’ll start by looking at some general principles for social video, then dig a little deeper into the specific optimization strategies that work best for each network....

How to Create Videos to Capture Your Audience | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

When it comes to marketing strategy, videos are powerful. How powerful? On Facebook, for example, videos are shared 12 times more than non-video posts. And let’s not forget YouTube, the second largest search engine in the world (after Google, of course). The ability of videos to increase user engagement is unsurpassed.

According to YouTube’s statistics page, they get over 800 million unique visitors each month, users view more than 4 billion hours of video each month and upload 72 hours of video every minute. That’s a lot of potential for your video....

Social Media and Storytelling, Part 5: Six Principles of Social Video

Social Media and Storytelling, Part 5: Six Principles of Social Video | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

As I discussed in part 1 of this series we are now in a post-broadcast world. The rules have changed dramatically in terms of how brands connect with their audience. What hasn’t changed is the power of motion picture storytelling. A new form of communication is evolving that combines this power with social media: social video.

My definition of social video is digital video designed to be shared through social networks. Social video is different than broadcast video in many ways; you can’t simply post your traditional 30 second TV spot online and wait for the views to roll in. I am surprised how many brands are still doing this.

There are six principles of social video directly influenced by social media. To be effective brands need to listen first, be agile in terms of production, engage with their audience, be emotive, build momentum and (if you get it right) spawn a viral effect....

Are your videos roaring or boring? Read these three tips for taking a basic failed video and making it a success.

I'm about to waste a minute of your time. Don't be offended. It happens a lot. In fact, chances are you're already wasting other people's time or you wouldn't have clicked on this column. Every time you post a video that's dull and doesn't communicate a meaningful message, you waste your precious marketing resources as well as the time of the few people who view it....

Two Bellmen – Official Movie Site - JW Marriott

Two Bellmen – Official Movie Site - JW Marriott | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

It’s an important day for Leila. She’s staying at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai to present at the global travel forum. But she isn’t worried at all. Her entire presentation and everything she needs is on her beautifully designed USB drive that she’s left in the careful hands of her assistant reed. Reed, on the other hand, is very worried. Because he’s left the USB in the car that dropped them off and is now gone. Who can chase the USB across the desert, avoid capture by high-tech symposium attendees, the bio bots (the future of personal service and security), deliver the USB back in time for the presentation and do it all in style?

The two bellmen are backshot on location in Dubai, two bellmen two once again blends comedy with parkour, martial arts, dance, and music action. Once again starring leading Hollywood stuntmen William Spencer (Spiderman; Spiderman 2) and Caine Sinclair NBC’s Grimm; how I Met Your mother) as the bellmen. The sequel adds Freida Pinto to the cast as Leila....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

"Two Bellmen" is a terrific example of content marketing if you have a big budget. Measuring ROI might be a challenge. Fun and entertaining viewing though!

Inside The Booming Mobile Video Ecosystem

Inside The Booming Mobile Video Ecosystem | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Mobile video has begun to accumulate scale, and has also turned out to be one of the few types of mobile content — along with games — that monetizes reliably and drives premium ad rates.

In a recent report, BI Intelligence breaks down the mobile video ecosystem, analyzing the behavior and devices behind the growth in consumption, and examining the demographics and behavior of mobile video consumers.

We look at the new video ecosystem that is taking shape, with mobile devices — rather than television — at the center. Subscriptions for on-demand, streaming, and live TV services are also booming....

Video creativity: Why are brands creating blah content?

Video creativity: Why are brands creating blah content? | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Video content reach is at an all-time high, but brands still don't generate more than 1,000 views. Where has all the creativity gone?

...With Americans clicking on and watching more videos than ever, brands must set their campaigns apart from the competition, which Pixability, a YouTube-certified marketing company, found is easier said than done. The agency noted that more than 50 percent of 200,000 business videos across 1,270 YouTube Channels have fewer than 1,000 views. Because the aggregate production value totals more than $4.3 billion, it’s clear companies aren’t seeing the content ROI they hoped for during production....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Despite the power of video, research shows a huge lack of creativity and proper planning are holding companies back from getting results on YouTube and other social media channels.

Naomi Assaraf's curator insight, July 19, 2013 12:04 AM

It is interesting, isn't it? Tons of brands, but blah video content. Now that Instagram Video is finally taking off, I'm curious to see who'll cut through the blahdom. Personally, I thought the #jobsmovie did a great job, and I love that #comicon had an instagram video scavenger hunt! I think Instagram will change the way videos are branded, and that will help ROI through content.

5 Types of Videos You Can Create for Your Customers

5 Types of Videos You Can Create for Your Customers | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

When it comes content marketing for your business, there are a lot of different ways you can go. Blogging is obviously one of the most popular, but there are also eBooks, eNewsletters, podcasts, and more. One popular type of content creation involves video, and while I have only dabbled in it a bit, I think that many businesses and nonprofits could use video effectively if they tried their hand at it.

The other day I talked about using Vimeo as one option, though of course the biggest option for video uploading and sharing continues to be Youtube. But regardless if you use one or both of these services, or even another option, video can be a great way to tell your story and grab attention. And remember, making a video today does not need to involve lots of money or high priced equipment. Yes, you can do really nice productions, but for some videos, it is perfectly acceptable to use webcams or smartphone cams. Here are five different types of video content you can use online to grab and maintain the interest of your audience...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

If you're thinking about adding video to your marketing, these are great tips for small biz, PR, marketing and content marketing pros.
