The Best 9 Analytics to Help with Content Audits

The Best 9 Analytics to Help with Content Audits | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Using analytics to come up with a directed strategy for developing content has become second nature. Did you know that you also can use analytics for your content auditing? Let’s take an inside look at content audits and how analytics figure into them.

Content auditing involves a detailed analysis of a website’s content to weed out poorly performing pages, identify outdated pages or wrong information, and learn which pages have poor SEO built into them. The aim is to fix these problems to streamline the operation of the site and to keep visitors (both new and returning) happy. Content auditing also allows you to revamp existing content to increase its search ranking or to develop content similar to previously successful pages. It’s one of the best ways to maintain the ongoing quality of your content....

Four Types of Content Marketing Metrics | Data-Driven Marketing Network | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Nine out of ten in-house marketers say that content marketing will become more important, but just 38 percent has a content strategy.

  • consumption
  • Sharing
  • lead generation
  • sales.

As shown in another point made in the infographic (most popular metrics), the research behind it shows that marketers are focusing on Consumption and Sharing metrics but by also taking into account Lead generation and Sales it keeps the content aligned with business objectives....

Why a Klout score may be an appropriate marketing metric - Schaefer Marketing Solutions {grow} | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Klout has attracted it share of critics but it is also an undoubtedly useful tool for businesses trying to achieve a culture of content creation.

Our team needed to establish metrics that would drive the right behaviors in the organization over the long-term. But how do you measure cultural change? How do you measure whether a team is moving from a comfort level with advertising and broadcasting to one of listening, creating, responding, and nurturing an audience of relevant healthcare influencers?

We looked at a variety of metrics but the more we thought about it, “Klout” seemed to fit the bill.I know I risk a torrent of critical responses by even mentioning the name of this company. But if you already on the brink of a rant, I would like to ask a favor. I am taking my time to create free, thought-provoking content for you. Before you rant about Klout in the comment section, please put pre-conceived notions aside for just one moment and don’t skim the article. Then, you can rant : )...

How to Conduct a Content Audit on Your Site

How to Conduct a Content Audit on Your Site | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

“Content audit” sounds a bit intimidating like something that involves ghastly amounts of time, endless spreadsheets, and dozens of unpaid interns. The word “audit” is so tied up with other unpleasant life experiences that I totally understand if it doesn’t inspire you. But hang on for a second because a “content audit” might be what your site needs to get to the next level.

So, what is a content audit? A content audit is a careful look at your website’s existing content in order to make sure that it’s doing what you want it to do — driving the right kind of traffic, containing the right kind of keywords, and improving conversions.

The reason this is important is because the content of your website is the most important factor in your website’s existence. To be blunt, your content is your website....

10 Charts That Are Changing the Way We Measure Content

10 Charts That Are Changing the Way We Measure Content | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

In March, the “how to measure content” debate came in like a lion. It came out like a lion on steroids.

Were you following?

In short:
1. Chartbeat founder Tony Haile published an epic analysis of Internet reading trends in Time that garnered about 20,000 shares.
2. Contently’s own Paul Fredrich published a manifesto here on The Content Strategist, calling for death to pageviews and a long life for engaged time metrics.
3. And News Corp’s Raju Narisetti fought back at Poynter, saying pageviews are more than a so-called “vanity metric” and have real value for publishers.

Those were just three of the highlights....
