The Next Generation of Buyer Personas

The Next Generation of Buyer Personas | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Q: You have created something called “Progressive Persona Profiling”. Can you elaborate on what this is and how it solves the two issues mentioned above?

Levine: At Kern, we created “The Modern Buyer’s 10-Stage Journey” as “Progressive Persona Profiling” tool (see below). Some may consider it presumptuous of us to define all buyer journeys for all products or services into these 10 stages. But what is important is that the journey isn’t linear, and that many of these stages can be traversed in seconds or together in groups.

Also, some stages, such as Stage 7: Social Research, can take place at every stage. The more complex the service or solution, such as in large B2B marketing endeavors, the longer the buyer’s journey or buy-cycle will be. The benefit of the new progressive persona profiling is that it integrates a more complete buying journey within a more dynamic tool....

Seeing the Trees for the Forest: Why Personalized Marketing at Scale is The Future of Advertising. – RightlyWrittenhq

Seeing the Trees for the Forest: Why Personalized Marketing at Scale is The Future of Advertising. – RightlyWrittenhq | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Welcome to Personal Marketing at scale

This new buzz phrase might seem like just another trending marketing gimmick, but the potential it holds seems to the something that can transform our approach to marketing altogether, permanently.I don’t know who you are, but I’m going to find you and advertise to you

Personal marketing at scale, in a nutshell, is the ability to target customers according to their unique needs with different creative messages rather than the one-ad-fits-all advertisements that plague us..

With this kind of digitalization, it is now possible to custom design an advertisement based on target’s location, interests, demographics, purchase history, in a way that seems personally relevant to the consumer. With this, unique brand positioning would become a thing of the past, and it is even possible to have entirely different voices for the same brand to appeal across different niches....

Digital Shopping Preferences Vary Among Age Groups

According to the IAB’s “Digital Shopping Report,” more consumers overall still prefer tablets over smartphones when it comes to making retail purchases — 35 percent vs. 28 percent — though when it comes to younger consumers, it’s a different story.

For shoppers between the ages of 18-34, the majority prefers smartphones over tablets for making purchases — 43 percent vs. 35 percent — while for adults between the ages of 34-54 it's the opposite, with most in this age group opting for tablets over smartphones — 41% vs. 35%. Those between the ages of 55-64 are more than twice as likely to use a tablet: 34 percent vs. 15 percent, respectively.

The study found this trend continues when identifying what devise consumers use for checking prices and reading product reviews. Consumers between the ages of 18 and 34 were more likely to skim product reviews on smartphones than tablets  — 44 percent vs. 32 percent — and members of this age group are also more inclined to check prices on a smartphone than a tablet as well: 42 percent vs. 32 percent. Those between the ages of 35 and 54, however, are more prone to use tablets to read reviews, locate stores, check store hours, and compare prices: 40 percent vs. 35 percent....

To Entice Consumers, Brands Turn to Mobile Marketing Coupons

To Entice Consumers, Brands Turn to Mobile Marketing Coupons | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

For generations, consumers have loved using coupons. But with a smartphone in nearly every American’s hand, today’s mobile marketing coupons aren’t your mother’s newspaper clippings.

Research shows mobile coupon use is expected to climb to 48 percent by 2017, compared to 40.5 percent this year, according to eMarketer. By 2017, nearly half of American companies with 100 or more employees will offer mobile coupons via mobile-friendly websites, apps, email, or texts. Those coupons are aimed at US Internet users who say they access coupons for online and off-line shopping, eMarketer reports.

For content marketers, coupons and incentives can be a relatively easy way to generate buzz, promote customer loyalty, secure new customers, and, critically, drive sales. But even marketing tactics as universally loved as coupons may need a content marketing boost to hit their mark. Simply put, a coupon may not be enough to drive consumers to purchase, especially as mobile coupons become more ubiquitous. Brands must think creatively about using mobile coupons within their content marketing strategies to better capture consumer attention....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Here's a few smart digital coupon ideas for innovators to test out.

11 Alarming Online Marketing Stats That Should Influence Your Strategy in 2016

11 Alarming Online Marketing Stats That Should Influence Your Strategy in 2016 | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

The first ever TV ad was for Bulova watches and was broadcasted in 1941 on American screens.

But do you know how digital marketing started?

Commercially available desktop PCs started to enter homes only in the 1980s. And in the 1990s, web 1.0 platforms and the internet started to take shape.

Soon enough Google and Blogger were founded in 1998 and 1999 respectively. And online marketing has evolved rapidly ever since.

As per Adobe’s 2013 survey of marketers, 76% respondents believed that marketing has changed more in the past two years than in the last 50.

But only 9% believed that their digital marketing is working.

That’s sad.

The good news is that you can perform your marketing much more efficiently. You need to observe the digital landscape intently and adapt to fulfill your audience demands.

I’ve put together 11 alarming statistics to help you adjust your online marketing strategy for 2016....
