Mobile Friendly Website Design – Why Does Your Business Need One? | Business 2 Community

Mobile Friendly Website Design – Why Does Your Business Need One? | Business 2 Community | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

A Mobile friendly Website Design is More Important than Ever… In the UK there are 23 million smart phone users over the age of 13, an increase of over 50% year on year.*

57% of customers said they would not recommend a business with a poor mobile experience, while 40% said they would switch to a competitor offering a better one, according to a 2011 study by Compuware....

The downside to this is when they are directed to your site and it is not optimised for mobile it will not display properly. In fact, any websites built with Flash will not display at all on iPhones or iPads. 35.1 million iPhones were sold in Q2 2012 alone and they will just show a blank screen.

If users cannot easily find the information they are looking for they will simply click back to the search engine and go to your competitor’s website....

Tactilize: a quick, web-based route to iPad apps | Adam Tinworth

Tactilize: a quick, web-based route to iPad apps | Adam Tinworth | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

While I was at Le Web London last week, I grabbed a few minutes from my frantic liveblogging to chat with Valentin Squirelo of iPad app publishing platform Tactilize. The startup is in closed beta right now, but he ran me through their quick, easy workflow for publishing iPad apps from a web interface.

It's a great idea. There are too few good solutions for publishing content-based iPad apps which don't rely on legacy page-layout apps like Adobe InDesign. The system he showed off was fast, elegant and intuitive. You use the Tactilize web tool to build your native app. It's structured as a series of "pages", locked into sections, and drag and drop interactive elements from a palette of options including Dropbox, Gmail and so on.

Valentin described it as being "between InDesign and Tumblr" in ease of use, and I think he has a point. It's probably more on the Tumblr end....

Mobile Web Searches To Surpass Desktop Web Search By 2013 – Is Your Website Ready? | Business 2 Community

Mobile Web Searches To Surpass Desktop Web Search By 2013 – Is Your Website Ready? | Business 2 Community | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

It's been mentioned in various blogs - I even heard it directly from someone who works at Google.  By 2013 - it is expected that mobile web searching will surpass desktop web searches.

There are roughly 644 million active websites out there right now. Some studies have estimated that 80% of consumers abandon a website because it isn’t mobile friendly.

Are you one of them?

Go ahead – pull out your Droid or iPhone and check out your site. Do you have to pinch your fingers in order to see the text or navigation? If so – it’s safe to say 80% of your mobile traffic leaves right away – and you’re losing business....

Advertisers are spending way too much on print, too little on mobile

Advertisers are spending way too much on print, too little on mobile | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
In a report by mobile analytics company Flurry, it appears the advertising industry still doesn't seem to understand the potential mobile advertising has, despite the fact that it'swhere consumers are spending tons of their time.

It’s no surprise that larger agencies aren’t quick to jump to an emerging and potentially risky platform, but the staggering growth that the mobile industry has seen over the past few years is a sign that these companies need to act faster to reach customers. ...
