How to Develop Content for Foolproof Content Marketing | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

In other words, these content marketers don’t know for whom they’re writing. There are two ways to solve this problem along with some helpful tools:

Identify your target audiences, find out where they reside, and the topics they discuss.
Find out what your competitors write.
What does your target audience want from you?

Why You Need To Deal With The Length Of Your Online Content

Why You Need To Deal With The Length Of Your Online Content | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

There is no fun in “it depends” when it comes to content length so here are a few guidelines, from tweets to blogs.

How long should everything be?

When Twitter was born, suddenly we learned to converse more efficiently, directly, and creatively. Once in a while, we still complain regarding Twitter’s 140-rule but according to a research by Buddy Media, you won’t be needing all 140 characters when you want to get your message across. The research found that tweets shorter than 100 characters get a 17% higher engagement rate. A similar research by Track Social in a study of 100 well-known brands garnered the same result.

Why less than 100? The research said that these “medium” length tweets get more re-tweets because they are long enough for the original poster to say something of value and short enough for a re-tweeter to add his or her comment....

Rather than listing more examples, with this post, we want to offer you a methodology to ensure that your brand doesn’t make an appearance in “Part 3.” To catch potential mistakes before they make it to your social media messaging queue, it’s helpful to set up an editorial process for your posts. You probably have one in place already for your content marketing platform, and those translate easily into social media messaging, and won’t take up too much of your time and effort. But if you’re unfamiliar with the idea and the process seems intimidating, we have prepared this handy flowchart, along with a list of questions to aid you with the vetting of your social media posts.

rodrick rajive lal's curator insight, January 9, 2015 10:22 AM

This is what most content creators will do, recycle old content to produce new content from an older content that has been tweaked and modified. As an an active blogger, I do the same with great effect. The implications for educationists lies in their ability to re-visit old posts after a lapse of some time whereby they can tweak and retouch observations according to what they have done in class. It always makes sense to re-visit old content and see how this content can be made more relevant to existing trends. While recycling might be achieved through re-posting of content as it is, a more pro-active approach would be to consider changing the title, adding more content and in addition, making necessary changes and corrections to make 'Old content' more in line with the latest in the industry. No doubt it might be difficult for content creators to continue producing good content throughout, so it makes sense to try recycling older content.

Content Marketing Mistakes in Social Media | Social Media Today

Content Marketing Mistakes in Social Media | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

A brand is essentially the sum of what people say about it. We’re connected and social now. And that’s not all. We’re hypercritical, hyperactive and so hyper-online, we’re barely offline when we sleep.

...Along the way, it’s nearly impossible to avoid subjects such as blogging, search, social, and some of the other tricks of the trade. Why? Because the best website in the world won’t make you a dime unless people come to it and find themselves engaged with the content there. There I go again. I can’t stop spouting the gospel.

I want my clients to understand the key to effective online marketing, or any marketing, is to get customers to know, like and trust you. That’s a high bar seldom achieved with a heavy dependence on ad or brochure-like communications. Ugh. Stop me now before I talk you into doing content marketing against your will....
