How to Use Video Marketing on Each Social Media Platform | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Facebook focuses on idea sharing, Twitter is all about broadcasting your thoughts, Instagram prioritizes the visually interesting, and Pinterest provides storage for the content and products you love.

Each social media site is designed to serve a different purpose, so we use it differently. It’s no surprise, then, that we’ll watch—and expect—different types of video on each platform.

In this post, we’re going to go over how to use video marketing on each individual social media site for best results, including ideal length, file size, and best practices....

Is Interactive Video the Next Big Thing? 3 Creative Examples from Brands

Is Interactive Video the Next Big Thing? 3 Creative Examples from Brands | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Some fairly obvious characteristics have made video the web's most engaging media type when compared to text, images and combinations thereof. It's the perfect blend of audio and visual elements, drilled down into bite-sized chunks that appeal to the modern viewers' desire for immediate understanding.

But that's not to say it's quite the perfect storytelling device. It's close, but falls down in one simple area: when it comes to interacting with video content, users have only really been able to play, pause, rewind and fast-forward.

Interactive video changes that. In a nutshell, this emerging technology combines video content with user input -- allowing viewers to take a wide range of actions while watching video content.

They can click areas of the screen to define their own journey, answer questions, complete forms, buy products, download content and more -- often without leaving the player window....

How to Create a Killer Brand Video in 2 Hours

How to Create a Killer Brand Video in 2 Hours | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

If you’re looking to make use of video to market your brand (and there’s literally no reason why you shouldn’t), it might seem a little daunting at first:

Most videos online have increasingly decent production value. A low quality video can damage your brand’s image and reputation.

What’s more, there’s the big issue of time: making quality content requires a lot of man hours, so throwing a video together quickly may feel like a bad idea.

The good news is, video content is nowhere near as complicated as you might think.

With technology that’s readily available and a small budget, you can create fantastic video content in a couple of hours.

Let’s go through the tips and tricks you’ll need to create killer video content with a high production value that does a great job of selling your brand....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Video is a hugely important marketing medium. Websites with videos keep site visitors for 88% longer than sites without video content.

This article is a great little guide on what a business could do if they wanted to save some money from hiring a professional to make video content for them. The article explains that most videos online are trending to higher and higher production value (technology is constantly improving) which means if you want to make video content you need to keep that in mind. I think this is great information because if a company wants to publish a video on one of their social-media platforms then they have to realize it can't look like it was filmed with a potato and all of the audio be background noise. This guide is especially good if you plan on publishing videos regularly since it tells you the key things you will need to make video content that will make it look like it has a high production value. A DSLR camera is a great solution to give a high quality image since there are so many adjustments you can make on it to look professional (depth of field is key). Also another thing most people don't realize is that while a cameras built in mic is convenient the quality is usually trash. A simple clip on mic is a easy and typically cheap fix for that. The last thing that is really key and again a fairly cheap fix is lighting. Professional level lighting can be bought on Amazon for under $100 and will add just a little more quality to your content.

Over-the-Top Streaming Video Services to Reach 330 Million+ Subscribers By 2019

Over-the-Top Streaming Video Services to Reach 330 Million+ Subscribers By 2019 | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Consumer adoption of streaming video services is surging, according to a new report by Juniper Research out this morning, which finds that subscriber numbers for services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Instant Video will grow from 92.1 million in 2014 to 333.2 million global subscriptions by 2019.

Connected TVs and streaming media devices like Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and Chromecast will be driving this adoption, as will connected game consoles and set-top boxes that provide streaming video as pre-loaded services....

In contrast, the newer streaming media devices are making watching over-the-top services more accessible on the big screen of the living room TV. They not only simplify the process of getting connected, but they’re also often sold at price points so low – Chromecast is $35 and the Fire TV Stick is $39, for example – that buying a streaming media stick is almost a no-brainer for many consumers....

Social Media and Storytelling, Part 5: Six Principles of Social Video

Social Media and Storytelling, Part 5: Six Principles of Social Video | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

As I discussed in part 1 of this series we are now in a post-broadcast world. The rules have changed dramatically in terms of how brands connect with their audience. What hasn’t changed is the power of motion picture storytelling. A new form of communication is evolving that combines this power with social media: social video.

My definition of social video is digital video designed to be shared through social networks. Social video is different than broadcast video in many ways; you can’t simply post your traditional 30 second TV spot online and wait for the views to roll in. I am surprised how many brands are still doing this.

There are six principles of social video directly influenced by social media. To be effective brands need to listen first, be agile in terms of production, engage with their audience, be emotive, build momentum and (if you get it right) spawn a viral effect....

Video creativity: Why are brands creating blah content?

Video creativity: Why are brands creating blah content? | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Video content reach is at an all-time high, but brands still don't generate more than 1,000 views. Where has all the creativity gone?

...With Americans clicking on and watching more videos than ever, brands must set their campaigns apart from the competition, which Pixability, a YouTube-certified marketing company, found is easier said than done. The agency noted that more than 50 percent of 200,000 business videos across 1,270 YouTube Channels have fewer than 1,000 views. Because the aggregate production value totals more than $4.3 billion, it’s clear companies aren’t seeing the content ROI they hoped for during production....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Despite the power of video, research shows a huge lack of creativity and proper planning are holding companies back from getting results on YouTube and other social media channels.

Naomi Assaraf's curator insight, July 19, 2013 12:04 AM

It is interesting, isn't it? Tons of brands, but blah video content. Now that Instagram Video is finally taking off, I'm curious to see who'll cut through the blahdom. Personally, I thought the #jobsmovie did a great job, and I love that #comicon had an instagram video scavenger hunt! I think Instagram will change the way videos are branded, and that will help ROI through content.
