If you think about it, one of the fastest ways to truly establish thought leadership with a blog is to continuously create high-level content around a subject. Yet very few blogs do that, and the ones that offer high level content on a frequent basis typically have a very infrequent posting schedule. Does that mean that most people are simply incapable of creating more advanced content? I say no, and offer two reasons why most bloggers aren’t creating more advanced content:
If you’d like tocreate more video content, but you’re not sure where to start, the answer may be as close as your blog. Repurposing written content from your blog may be one of the quickest and easiest ways to produce video. After all, the idea is already there – all you have to do is alter the platform! So if a picture is worth a thousand words, what’s a video worth? A minute of video is worth 1.8 million words, according to D. James McQuivey of Forrester Research. Blogging really is like jogging. You’ve got to do it regularly and spend more than 30 seconds at a time on it if you want to see any results. That being said, it’s easy to fall into a pattern of mediocrity or miss a few blog posts scheduled on your content calendar. Between eBooks, webinars, white papers, blog content and social media, an effective inbound marketing strategy is really centered around a high velocity of outstanding content. Enter repurposing. It’s not stealing if you own the words. As a disclaimer before we get started, I’m absolutely not suggesting that anyone plagiarize. Quality and value are the golden rules of content. Sales is the golden rule of business. Must the two be perpetually at odds? Quality and value are the golden rules of content marketing. Sales, on the other hand, is the golden rule of business. For some reason, the two seem to be perpetually at odds. Beat people over the head with a sales message, and they’ll instantly run away. Ignore sales to focus on content only, and the business will implode. Surely, a balance exists. But what exactly is it?... [Three case studies show why great content is critical - JD]
This year's Buyersphere report learned that buyers are crazy for content. And it sees social media as the word of mouth of the future. This year’s Buyersphere Report, from Base One and B2B Marketing, takes all the guesswork out of what B2B decision makers really want by going directly to the source: the buyers themselves. In this year’s report, the survey compiles responses from 800 participants with the intent of uncovering what all marketers want to know: How do buyers find information that will help them identify the right suppliers for their business? It’s no surprise that content tops the list. But what was most revealing in this year’s study was how much content is being absorbed, the channels through which the content is being consumed, and the consumption behaviors of the different generations of consumers. While the assumption may be that social media is climbing to the top of preferred content consumption channels, think again. What we’ll uncover in this research is how social media usage has actually dipped this year, but why we don’t think it will be for long....
