42 Experts Tips for Creating Stand-Out Visual Content | Visme | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

In a study published by the Content Marketing Institute last month, 70% of B2B marketers stated they will produce more original content in 2017 than they did in 2016, and 39% plan to increase their content marketing spending over the next year.

Meanwhile, user-generated content is also expected to explode. The global Internet population grew 62%, from 2.1 billion to 3.4 billion, in just the last four years.

All this means that the amount of content online, including visual content, will only increase exponentially with time–not decrease.

So, with so much noise out there, how can can you still create unique visual content that stands out?....

How to Leverage Visuals for Powerful Content Marketing

How to Leverage Visuals for Powerful Content Marketing | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

While GE has consumer-facing boards on Pinterest, it’s the company’s B2B boards that get the lion’s share of attention—especially its Badass Machines page. It features the “biggest and baddest technologies produced by GE.”

What’s sparking this major attraction? In a word, visuals. GE creates epic behind-the-scenes photos of everything from jet engines to gas and wind turbines. While GE’s products may not seem to be inherently visual, like food or fashion, close-up images of powerful machines are awe-inspiring. Which is why people can’t get enough of them. So much so that GE also posts the images on its popular Instagram page.

6 free visual marketing tools

6 free visual marketing tools | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

This lack of artistic ability poses a threat to my marketing career, especially now that visual content marketing is the ticket to success. Even though I have other creative traits, I'm worried I'll get left in the visual storytelling dust.

I know I'm not alone.

Luckily, we non-artists have a few tools to mask our lack of design talent.

These tools are free, but often have advanced paid features for when you're ready to step up your game. They don't replace a designer's expertise, but you can use them for smaller projects, like blogs, social media graphics, or Slideshare templates....

11 Smart Marketing Examples that Nail Visual Content

11 Smart Marketing Examples that Nail Visual Content | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

It’s no secret that visual content is powerful. Numerous studies show that our ability to recall information increases significantly when it’s presented as an image rather than plain text.

That’s why infographics, despite the fact that they are everywhere, are still effective when done well.

Infographics are still effective when done well says @sujanpatel. #contentmarketing CLICK TO TWEET
What that means, as summarized by Jeff Bullas, is that an infographic (and visual content as a whole) should:

  • Blend seamlessly into the user experience
  • Fit the platform used to share it
  • Offer genuine value — never an aggressive attempt to sell
  • Be bite-sized — quick and easy to consume
  • Relate to the things your audience cares about
  • Be consistent in style and tone

7 Ways to Create the Perfect Image for Your Social Content

7 Ways to Create the Perfect Image for Your Social Content | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

In today’s visual world, you need more than a great headline to entice your readers to click and share. Your engagement on nearly every social platform, including your blog, is highly dependent on the images you associate with your content, and more importantly, on your audience’s perception of those images. Stock images that mildly relate to your content are not enough. The image needs to add to your social copy, and moreover, inspire a user to share....

Morgan Lefkof's curator insight, September 20, 2014 8:40 PM

This article discusses the seven ways to have the perfect content in a photo on social networks. The first of the seven ways is that one picture will not always work on every form of social media. Images with certain colors have different reactions on different mediums of social media. The next way to have the perfect content in a photo on social networks is to make the photo personal. Pictures that trigger emotions catch the viewers. The third way is to embrace the text. This means that a company should try to include text on the image. The fourth way is to use action shots. Show “what is happening now, or what will be happening soon”. The fifth way is to include not only images in posts, but also GIFs. The sixth way is to make sure you include images that you find from other websites. And lastly, use multiple images.

Recently I believe that more companies are trying to steer away from wordy posts on social media. This article would be really helpful for companies who are new to posting pictures online. Because viewers scroll quickly through their social media feeds, it is important to have posts that are eye catching. This article gives companies a checklist of effective images to have on their social medias.

Great article scooped by Jeff Domansky on top tips for creating images for your social content. One tip in particular resonated with me - the psychology of colours ; it is noted in the article that red/orange images receive double the amount of clicks as blue/green images on social media channels. Something worth bearing in mind if you want to optimise your engagement with fans/followers on social media through images. Another good tip related to including text on images to drive your brand's message home and including some text in larger font than others for emphasis -  a great iOS app for doing this is Wordswag.

Sick of Stock Photos? Use Memes to Liven Up Your Content. - Business 2 Community

Sick of Stock Photos? Use Memes to Liven Up Your Content. - Business 2 Community | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

...So even if you don’t “do” Pinterest or Instagram, your content needs to have some kind of visual element if it’s going to rack up likes and shares. This is, of course, great news if you’re naturally creative with visuals…

But if you’re like me, it means you’re likely to be stuck with stock photography. As Seinfeld would say, “not that there’s anything wrong with that,” but when you pull up “happy-woman-at-computer.jpg” for the umpteetnth time, you start looking around for something with a little more pizazz.

Enter the meme. If you’ve never heard of memes (pronounced meemz), I guarantee you’ve seen at least one. They’re those funny images you see all over Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere on the inter-tubes with different messaging embedded. One of my favorites is the Boromir ”One Does Not Simply …” image from Lord of the Rings that I’ve included above. Look familiar?

The good news is that you don’t need Photoshop to create and share your very own memes—just an Internet connection. There are several (free) meme creation websites out there; I’m partial to memegenerator.net, which is super-easy to use...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Good tip for better visual marketing and the suggestion of the meme generator tools is a good one. You too can create your own memes but do it judiciously or you'll just look silly and certainly not get results.
