But how is it that Smosh, two goofy friends since high school, and the frequent creators of such 'sophisticated' videos as The Wiener Song, become so popular? What could these idiots possibly know that dozens of professionals don't?!?
You'd be surprised. Read on to find out just what they know about YouTube marketing....
As an artist i like to learn as much as I can about youtube. We all would like to get millions of views, these tips can be very useful. Knowledge is power!
Every day people watch hundreds of millions of hours on YouTube, Facebook has 8 billion daily video views and Snapchat users watch 6 billion videos daily.
Video views are growing so fast that if you don’t jump in now, you might miss out on one of the biggest opportunities for you and/or your company.
And that’s why I wanted to talk about Twitter video, which is something not a lot of marketers have embraced yet!...
Jeff Domansky's insight:
Video is marketing's new secret weapon. Get the picture?
A]lthough we see these searches across age groups, it’s most pronounced among millennials. In fact, 67% of millennials agree that they can find a YouTube video on anything they want to learn.
Millennials aren’t the only drivers behind the increased demand for how-to content. In fact, the report notes that 91 percent of mobile users check YouTube for inspiration while working on a project. And brands are using this demand for how-to content to connect with consumers in useful and meaningful ways.
This is a key lesson for content marketers. While content marketers often talk about engaging customers with timely and relevant content, many miss the markwhen it comes to developing content that truly serves the needs of the target audience....
Jeff Domansky's insight:
Here's how YouTube presents a big opportunity for marketers who can provide how to videos for consumers.
Do you want to increase your Social Media reach and make your message go viral? Are you tired of Facebook limiting the reach of your posts?
Video content is one of the best ways to increase your followers’ engagement on Social Media; and when engagement rises, your reach will also grow. The power of video as highly engaging content is the reason why most Social Media platforms are implementing new video products: video ads on Facebook, animated gifs on Twitter, the launch of Hyperlapse for Instagram, etc…
However, if you just create the same type of videos as everyone else, chances are, your followers will also ignore these posts. Users pay more attention to content that is unusual and unique. Posting another video is not enough. It needs to be different from what others are doing.
In this article, I will describe some apps for smartphones that will allow you to create outstanding and unique videos that will surely increase your engagement by making your videos stand out of the mass....
Jeff Domansky's insight:
We all know that video is important but the problem is that it's difficult to create, unless you use these great video apps, check them out.
The video percent of Internet traffic is predicted to jump to a whopping 79% in the next 4 years as more people go mobile according to a recent study.
If you’re not using online video to market your small business or brand, you’re likely missing out on a lot of traffic. And now is probably a good time to get started.
A new study from Cisco, the company’s VNI Global IP Traffic and Service Adoption Forecasts, 2013–2018, reveals this. The study says that by 2018, 79 percent of all Internet traffic will be video-related. That’s an increase from the 66 percent share that video traffic claims today.
And by 2018, the amount of people online and the amount of devices that are Internet-enabled will grow exponentially, too. The Cisco study predicts that in less than five years, more than half of the world’s population will be active Internet users....
Ever dreamed of a way to simply and easily create video from text, mix in a handful of visuals and produce a video to add to your blog or website with a click?
Recently, the launch of Guide moved that dream one step closer to reality. It’s an interesting debut of a unique, text-to-video production tool worth checking out. Here’s my test drive....
Jeff Domansky's insight:
Very easy to use. I created a video from the text of one of my blog posts in under 20 minutes. Check out my review of Guide.
As we near the end of my blog post series about how blogging and social media work together, in this two-part post I’ll be exploring YouTube.
For an expert view, I interviewed Anthony Idle from Local Video Marketing. Anthony shows local business owners how to use video in their online marketing even if they hate to be on camera and have zero budget.
Jeff Domansky's insight:
Any business or individual can utilize YouTube video marketing effectively. Here's how to do it right with excellent tips from Paul Cooley.
As I discussed in part 1 of this series we are now in a post-broadcast world. The rules have changed dramatically in terms of how brands connect with their audience. What hasn’t changed is the power of motion picture storytelling. A new form of communication is evolving that combines this power with social media: social video.
My definition of social video is digital video designed to be shared through social networks. Social video is different than broadcast video in many ways; you can’t simply post your traditional 30 second TV spot online and wait for the views to roll in. I am surprised how many brands are still doing this.
There are six principles of social video directly influenced by social media. To be effective brands need to listen first, be agile in terms of production, engage with their audience, be emotive, build momentum and (if you get it right) spawn a viral effect....

Video content reach is at an all-time high, but brands still don't generate more than 1,000 views. Where has all the creativity gone?
...With Americans clicking on and watching more videos than ever, brands must set their campaigns apart from the competition, which Pixability, a YouTube-certified marketing company, found is easier said than done. The agency noted that more than 50 percent of 200,000 business videos across 1,270 YouTube Channels have fewer than 1,000 views. Because the aggregate production value totals more than $4.3 billion, it’s clear companies aren’t seeing the content ROI they hoped for during production....
Jeff Domansky's insight:
Despite the power of video, research shows a huge lack of creativity and proper planning are holding companies back from getting results on YouTube and other social media channels.
It is interesting, isn't it? Tons of brands, but blah video content. Now that Instagram Video is finally taking off, I'm curious to see who'll cut through the blahdom. Personally, I thought the #jobsmovie did a great job, and I love that #comicon had an instagram video scavenger hunt! I think Instagram will change the way videos are branded, and that will help ROI through content.

By 2020, nearly a million minutes of video content will cross global IP networks every second (Cisco Visual Networking Index, 2015-2020). That’s a tsunami wave of video content that we are already splashing around in. We stream Netflix, Snapchat in real-time, and experiment with Facebook Live. Feeds are filled with viral videos, bite-size recaps of major events, and more. Video is everywhere, but online video is more than just an “exciting” trend. It’s a titan in the digital space, and it will only become more popular. According to Cisco, globally, IP video traffic will be 82% of all consumer Internet traffic by 2020, up from 70% in 2015.
With all that video streaming on devices and platforms, there are more opportunities than ever to reach your audience. So, are you in the game? Does your content strategy consider video? If it doesn’t, you might be in trouble. Here’s why online video is here to stay....
YouTube has released a cluster of new products designed to help small businesses and first-time video advertisers record and publish videos in a bid to broaden the pool of potential media buyers using the online video service.
The quality of the resulting ads is, of course, largely dependent on the performances given by the people in it. And getting potential customers to see such an ad is another challenge altogether, but the basic production tools have been provided for free....

Over recent years, the criteria for engagement on social media has evolved from announcing your brand or product to finding a way to tell a story.
Quality branded video campaigns allow companies to project said story in some really creative and unique ways. Whether you're spreading brand awareness, announcing a new product, or launching a company, great branded video makes customers feel an emotional connection. And that emotional reaction can be really powerful.
In fact, a recent survey by eZanga found that 30% of respondents were less likely to skip video content if it was humorous. And research by Dr. Karen Nelson-Field found that 65% of videos that elicited a feeling of exhilaration were most remembered.
When it comes to finding the right platform to promote your video, Facebook is a strong contender. In fact, just this past January it announced that platform now sees 100 million hours of daily video watch time. So to help inspire your video marketing efforts on Facebook, I put together a list of 10 clever examples from brands like Apple, LG, BMW, and more. Check them out below....

A survey from Limelight Networks revealed that there are many reasons why internet users in Australia, Canada, the UK and the US abandon digital videos. Advertising was one of the main ones. For example, 61.8% of respondents said that if there were too many ads during the video, they would stop watching.
Similarly, 26.7% of internet users said that if there was an ad before the video and they couldn’t skip it, then they would abandon that video. Even skippable pre-rolls were a turnoff: 16.4% of respondents said they would abandon any videos with ads running first....

With YouTube Chad Hurley and Steve Chen made publishing videos easy. Now they want to make it just as easy to create them. When Google wanted to boost the quality of YouTube’s content, it gave out $5 million in grants to select creators. YouTube cofounders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, who sold the service to Google in 2006, are now tackling the same problem, but with a different philosophy.
They hope that a new app they are launching on Thursday, called MixBit, will make shooting quality video scalable and accessible to everyone.“Unfortunately I think YouTube is going down the route of rewarding the select few around content creation, be it with partnerships or with ways of funding original content,” Hurley told Fast Company. “I can understand, it’s great to stimulate the community and make money available to them. But I feel that’s a more traditional approach to solving the problem. It’s basically replicating the studio model...I’m looking for something that doesn’t necessarily alienate any group of people, but gives them all equal access.
”That apparently includes people who never shoot any video. With MixBit, as with Instagram video and Vine, users touch their phones’ screens to take multiple video clips that the app combines into one video. But only MixBit allows other people to use those clips, if they’re public, in their own videos....

Brands are wise to remember online consumption habits as video content becomes more of a content marketing staple and less of an optional advantage. Specifically, videos must be kept short and sweet to hold viewers’ attention.
