rodrick rajive lal's curator insight, May 21, 2015 12:41 AM

I have been using Pinterest for almost a year now, and would recommend it to discerning professionals who would like to keep separate boards for different things. Pinterest also helps drive collaborative work as it is more likely that similar minded people will check out your boards and follow them. Added to this is the fact that as Facebook and Twitter become over used, Pinterest is a fresher platform which promotes newness. The advantage of having different boards is that you can file away different stuff in them. Teachers could have one board for lesson plans, another board for infographics, and yet another one for research materials and resources. I would definitely recommend Pinterest to all professionals who want to try something new and refreshing! Happy Pinning!

8 Ways to Increase Your Exposure on Pinterest | Simply Measured

8 Ways to Increase Your Exposure on Pinterest | Simply Measured | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Here at Simply Measured, we get asked this question on social a lot:

How do I make my brand stand out on Pinterest?

Pinterest,  whose valuation just hit $11 billion after a new round of fundraising, is definitely the social network to watch in 2015.

As Pinterest expands its promoted pins program and partners more strongly with brands, it’s imperative that you, the social marketer, understand how to optimize your content on the network. Here are some tips and tricks that I hope help....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Here are 8 tips that can make the difference with your Pinterest posting.

Santiaga Rodriguez 's curator insight, May 12, 2015 8:52 PM

Pinterest was named the social network to watch in 2015. From this blog by simply measured  it gives a solid guide to making Pinterest for you. From making sure you use the right key words to "repinning" to gain followers and searches. A few of the tips I found to be the most effective were running a cross channel campaign; using your other social media outlets to get your page attraction. My favorite was # 5, " ditch the salesy schtick" aka dont be pushey- if people like your content, they will view and hopefully share your page!

This blog page is targeted obviously to business owners who want to use Pinterest to reach a certain target audience. That is the most positive thing about the site, it is very easy to get who you want to see your content, to view it. Based on what you post, where, when and especially key words you use, you can almost be guaranteed views, and by continuing to post similar things that got said views, followers, and in this case the more re-pinning the better. You want the viewers you seek out to share and show others- creating a snowball affect and hopefully proving effective.

This post a good question:

Is your brand—personal or professional?

Marketing yourself or a business can be very different in end goals, but may have a similar pathway. The 8 tips they give for Pinterest marketing are similar to that others suggest. Image is everything and with Pinterest, you're not going to read- initially. The image and small description is what leads users to look further into the post/ page. You want to be as to the point and use the most inciting image to capture the users attention. The use of " Rich Pins" gives you an edge up and a better, quicket insight to the users. These are great in giving the information there and then.

There are five types of rich pins:

Article pins include the headline, author, story description and linkProduct pins include real-time pricing, availability and where to buyRecipe pins include ingredients, cooking times and serving infoMovie pins include ratings, cast members and reviewsPlace pins include an address, phone number and mapThis can add something to your pins, that others don't have.  They emphasize descriptions as mentioned before.  Helpful detailsKeywordsOkay to be a couple sentences longPositive sentimentGive the reader something to do. If there’s an action they can take, share the next steps and add a link to somewhere useful. These are what users want. They also suggest what not to say, aka sales pitches and promo. information.  You want to be as user AND consumer friendly by giving them what they want without shoving it down their throat.  Overall, using all these tips on how to market via Pinterest is almost like the perfect pin. Its showing you EXACTLY what to do with DIY instructions.

As a business owner your main objective is to make money. Here, it is easily explained how. Like anything, having a good understanding of what you're working with makes all the difference. Pinterest easy interface makes posting effortless. The more you post and the more frequent you post it, the more traffic your business/page will create.

They talk about taking advantage of the site to generate income, they do so by making your pins colorful, avoiding faces, what type of images are pinned more as well as when and what to pin to get the most activity.

These few guidelines, I believe can make a huge difference in how your business is perceived. Like said before, having a solid understanding of what you are working with can only work in your favor. By knowing what people like to see, your pins are more likely to be shared and from there you become more successful.

70% of brand engagement is generated by users, not the brand. Therefore, your goal is to get follows; this gives you the best breakdown of how to make your page the most user friendly.

The picto-graphs make this a no brainer tool to use when trying to build a business and make money via Pinterest.

Things like following people who post the things you posts or even joining groups that allow you to post content that coincides with the theme of that group. Pinterest wasn't initially intended for blogging, as Tumblr was. Pinterest is now entering the clog community because users can post things they've created for others to find via tagging and pinning. It can be personal, material, emotional, physically, etc. Pinterest can be used for so many different things now, which definitely opens their audience up a bit. Facebook is used mostly for connection only, whereas this site can be tamed for just about everyone. And neither peace nor words nor Lin in the speech
As intensified promises and appeared to him some teeth and fangs

Pinterest: The Social Search Goldmine

Pinterest: The Social Search Goldmine | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Pinterest is shaping up to be a very interesting and very different player. Many of us remember the quick rise in the search results that Flickr experienced a few years ago; however, this one is different.

Not Just Successful In Image Search

First of all, Pinterest is not only winning in image search; it is also winning in blended (regular mixed) search.

The second and even larger differentiator is the fact that Pinterest is all about driving website traffic vs. just posting an image. In most cases, people on Pinterest have a research mindset, and they fully expect when they click on an image containing a product to be brought to a product page.

Oh, did we also mention that it is a highly social asset with a long-term lifespan? Unlike a tweet or a Facebook post, which will be pushed down in the timeline and be seen by nobody after a few days, a pin does not disappear into cyberspace; it will live on for many months after its original creation..../

Une analyse pertinente : et si Pinterest était les plus intéressant des réseaux sociaux à suivre ...

A new player is emerging in the social search landscape and it’s Pinterest. According to the article, over the last 12-18 months, the number of search engine results containing Pinterest content has nearly doubled. Its biggest search topics have to do with beauty, hair, and home, which has seen an increase of over 400 percent year-over-year. That is insane! Pinterest users going in with a certain mindset when searching for topics. They know what they want to view and fully expect to be brought to the product page when they click on the image or link they are viewing. A big part that is playing in the success of Pinterest is that it is delivering high quality and value traffic. The charts within the article show the overwhelming dominance that Pinterest has in terms of referral traffic. I have never used Pinterest before. I mainly thought of it as a site for females because most topics of pins are beauty, hair, clothing, and other topics that I am obviously not interested in. But it appears that it is becoming more than that now. I could probably go in with the mindset of looking for sports related pins or helpful workout tips which would make the site more interesting for me to use. However, I am trying to step away from social media and other networks so I doubt I will ever enter the world of Pinterest. It is interesting to see that it is making a rise in terms of social searching.

Pinterest is outside of the top three or four social media platforms that most businesses think of, but it should not be overlooked. According to this article, many users are likely to purchase something they see on Pinterest, and the majority of their users (young moms, single men) are tech-savvy and have buying power. Businesses should use the platform to create a holistic online presence, spread their brand and create trust between them and their customers. By putting up relevant images or inspirational messages, the company is selling the brand rather than a specific product or service.
