Our technology and method Using NLP (natural language processing) to turn text into data, we extract reported speech (the things people say) from the text of online news, along with the associated metadata (things like: the name of the speaker and where they work). Artists beware! AI is coming for your paintbrush too… A new iOS app, called Prisma, is using deep learning algorithms to turn smartphone photos into stylized artworks based on different artwork/graphical styles. Snap or choose your photo, select an ‘art filter’ to be applied and then wait as the app works its algorithmic magic — returning your stylized image in a matter of seconds, along with options to share it to your social networks. The Padlet is good to use when all the students have an internet connected device, a tablet, for example, and they have go in for audience polls, and short answers. The results and the responses can be seen by all on a screen in the classroom. All our classrooms have wifi and projectors which can be connected to laptops.

In my opinión this interesting tool contributes to create a good atmosphere where students can interact and share their knowledge and investigations with the whole class. Personally, I would like to use this tool in three different ways: 1) Create a feedback wall where students can post suggestions and express concerns anonymously. 2) Build a matching exercise on the wall and have students rearrange the photos and text to solve, and 3) Create a digital map and have students post their findings about new cultures. The main idea is to teach the topics using other alternatives in order to motivate students participation.
