Twitter Media Launches Blog To Fight Attrition By Teaching You What To Tweet | TechCrunch

Twitter Media Launches Blog To Fight Attrition By Teaching You What To Tweet | TechCrunch | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Twitter wants to prove it’s not just for broadcasting the mundane details of your life so it just launched the Twitter Media blog. The site plans to feature great uses of Twitter for “TV, sports, journalism, government, music, movies, social good and beyond.” It joins Google Inside Search and Facebook Stories as another media endeavor designed to help inspire our use of today’s top technologies.

Technically the site launched on July 2, but Twitter kept it quiet until now so it could build up some content. Along with end users, the blog is trying to educate the media about how to tap Twitter for interesting content. Posts so far include a deep data analysis of tweets from Wimbledon (Andy Murray’s celebration tweet now has over 92,000 RTs), a visualization of NBA Finals tweets, and the story of a tweeting tightrope walker....

What Are the 25 Most Engaged Brands on Twitter?

What Are the 25 Most Engaged Brands on Twitter? | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Twitter has rapidly become a vehicle for brand marketing and reinforcement, but keep in mind that it’s only partially a broadcasting channel. Many companies are using it as a one-way broadcaster of 140-character messaging, instead of using it to engage followers.

Startup Nestivity, which develops community software tools for Twitter, has come up with a list of the top 25 brands that best utilize Twitter for customer engagement. The list was developed from a study, conducted by Evolve Capital and by Dr. Natalie Petouhoff of the UCLA Anderson School of Management, that was designed to measure brand engagement in that social channel. The research focused on traffic for the 100 most followed brands, and looked at how relationships were created and maintained with customers, influencers or advocates....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Interesting study and excellent reference for any business looking to maximize results from Twitter.

A Peanut Butter Company Figured Out How To Profitably Advertise On Vine

A Peanut Butter Company Figured Out How To Profitably Advertise On Vine | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

"Sometimes it takes the little guy to figure out how to make something like Vine pay." When Vine, Twitter's six-second video sharing platform, first came out in January, brands fell over themselves to embrace the new medium.

Red Vines probably got the most capital out of its initial #Vineception video. (It has only posted six videos in the 74 days since.) But four months later, Vine is the number one free app in the U.S. App Store and not showing any signs of slowing down. And while brands have had fun on the sharing tool, it looks like a small peanut butter company is one that's actually going to make it profitable....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Sometimes the agile, small companies can get there much faster with the help of technology. Vine, like Twitter, is one of those technologies that levels the playing field regardless of the size of your business.

How to Use Twitter for Crowdsourcing and Simple Market Research | Social Media Today

How to Use Twitter for Crowdsourcing and Simple Market Research | Social Media Today | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Having a social media presence can be an invaluable resource for providing insights into consumer needs, sentiment, and opinions towards a business, service or brand. Social media is by no means a replacement for traditional market research, but it can be used in a broader sense. That broader sense is becoming a widely adopted trend referred to as Crowdsourcing.

Crowdsourcing is the act of outsourcing tasks to an undefined, large group of people or community (a "crowd"), through an open call. Twitter is the perfect platform for implementing such a tactic and will often yield insightful, and sometimes surprising, results. Using Twitter to openly ask your followers and the community as a whole has additional benefits. By listening, organizations gain first-hand insight on their customers' desires. You have the option to follow up with your respondents in real time. Plus, because participants are not being led by moderators or necessarily thinking about the expectations for responses, the answers they give can be more genuine and revealing....
