How to Blur Faces in Videos With Screencastify

How to Blur Faces in Videos With Screencastify | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
Screencastify is an excellent tool for quickly creating screencast videos. What you might not know is that you can also use Screencastify's free video editor to edit videos that you've recorded with other tools. For example, I recorded a video on my phone then transferred it to my laptop where I used Screencastify's free video editor to blur things in my video.

Five Screencasting Tools Compared and Ranked - Fall 2020 | Free Technology for Teachers

Five Screencasting Tools Compared and Ranked - Fall 2020 | Free Technology for Teachers | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

The launch of Vimeo Record earlier this week made me think that perhaps it was time to write a comparison of popular screencasting / screen recording tools. For this comparison I selected the five options that pop into my head whenever I'm asked about screencasting (which has been almost daily since March). With the exception of Flipgrid all of the tools in this comparison have free and paid options. This comparison only addresses the features that are available to educators for free. If you'd like to see the comparisons in a chart format, I have embedded a chart at the end of this post (if you're reading this in email or RSS you'll need to click through to the website to see the chart).

When using Google Slides it is a great option to make short micro-lessons for students that are working asynchronous. Screencastify allows you to make your videos personalized and tailored to your students needs. This screen casting application also allows you to upload to YouTube directly from the site. The videos are automatically saved on your Google Drive under screencastify folder.

Make a Whiteboard Video With Google Slides and Screencastify

Make a Whiteboard Video With Google Slides and Screencastify | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

One of the "tricks" that I share in the video is to enter presentation mode before you start recording your video. Doing that eliminates some of the fumbling of transitioning between editing mode and presentation mode in your video. Take a look at my demonstration video that is embedded below to see the whole process of making a whiteboard video with Google Slides and Screencastify.

A Great Update to Screencastify | Free Technology for Teachers | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

Screencastify is a tremendously popular screencast recording tool. A large part of its popularity comes from being easy to use on Chromebooks. In fact, last fall I helped eighth grade students use Screencastify in conjunction with Brush Ninja on their Chromebooks to make simple animated videos. As great as it was Screencastify wasn't without limitations.
