El bullying es díficil de detectar ya que los niños suelen recibir amenazas si informan de lo que está ocurriendo y además, en muchas ocasiones, no quieren ser tachados de “chivatos” por miedo a una mayor exclusión social. Esto hace que la situación pueda cronificarse, creando indefensión a la víctima de los abusos, lo que puede desembocar en graves daños emocionales y psicológicos. En algunas ocasiones puede incluso llegar a provocar en los niños que lo padecen pensamientos suicidas.

Pero al acoso hay que llamarlo por su nombre, es un tipo de violencia que se produce entre dos personas menores de edad, no es un juego y no podemos justificarlo. Esa "ley del silencio" que rodea las situaciones de acoso escolar debe desaparecer. Tenemos que ser capaces de identificar los casos de acoso y tomar medidas que protejan tanto a los acosados como a los acosadores, ya que en ambos casos estamos hablando de niños.
