BYU compared two classes taught by the same instructor and both had the same results; they compared a flipped (videos) and non-flipped class, but both classes allowed students to use active learning..since students got to work with instructors on assignments and worked in groups, students in both classes did well. Interested in the research study? Here's the research journal article: http://www.lifescied.org/content/14/1/ar5.full.pdf

These tools can be used for any level of education. A common tool listed on this site and elsewhere is "voicethread." This tool allows students to leave a video response to an online lecture or post instead of a traditional text. Other tools listed are: FlipGrid, Poll Everywhere, Emodo, and WikiSpaces.

Blended learning ranges the gamut now from adding content online for your f2f class, meeting f2f once in a while, to meeting online most of the time. You name it, if learning and online materials and/or contact are involved, it's "blended learning"

Here is a quick tutorial to teach you how to insert questions into eduCanon. You will need to have a video in mind. * You can crop videos * You can group videos together for lessons * You can monitor student progress "Watch the rest of 3 Minute Teaching with Tech Tutorials on this web page, or by opening this YouTube Playlist."

Excellent starting point in understanding the language around educational technology. This blog easily explains the different between blended, flipped, and remote learning. Also included are is the difference between synchronous and asynchronous learning. Blended combines online learning with in person instruction. Flipped focuses on learning concepts at home before in depth analysis in the classroom and remote learning if fully virtual instruction.

Flipped classroom is not just a trend, its the best way to learn because it fits with neuroscientists theory that the brain works and absorves knowledge better thru "experiences" (learn by doing)
