Most Shared Phrases and Topics on LinkedIn [New Q3 Data]

Most Shared Phrases and Topics on LinkedIn [New Q3 Data] | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

LinkedIn is best known as the world's largest professional network -- in other words, users aren’t there to look at cat memes or read celebrity gossip. Instead, they're looking to connect with people in their industry, network, keep up with industry news, and look potential job opportunities.

For marketers, paying attention to this difference in user purpose is key when building your social strategy. The more looped in you are on what people are talking about, the easier it becomes to use that information to craft helpful, targeted content. And that's where this data study comes in.

My company, ClearVoice, recently conducted a study that provides data and insight specifically on the most popular posts on LinkedIn. The data was generated by Content Studio -- our comprehensive index of the most popular content and influencers on the web -- and includes insights from the third quarter of 2016.

Want to build these trends into your LinkedIn strategy? I'll walk you through them below....

The Anatomy of a Great Sales LinkedIn Request [Template]

The Anatomy of a Great Sales LinkedIn Request [Template] | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

To social selling expert Jill Rowley, ABC doesn't mean "always be closing." It means "always be connecting." She believes that because a sales rep's network is their net worth, salespeople should live on LinkedIn, researching and requesting thought leaders, industry influencers, and potential prospects.

The upshot of this mantra is that sales reps should be connecting with people they know online, but have never met in person. And the difference between being perceived as a valuable contact rather than a stalking stranger in these situations comes down to your LinkedIn request.

"I'd like to add you to my professional network" just isn't going to cut it.LinkedIn allows you to write personalized invitations that contain up to 300 characters -- take advantage of this real estate to make a strong first impression. Confused about what to write? Let the following template be your guide....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

What you leave out of your LinkedIn request is just as important as what you put in writes Emma Brudner.

4 LinkedIn Marketing Tactics That You're Missing Out On | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

LinkedIn calls itself the “World’s Largest Professional Network” for very good reason. The service has a user base of more than 400 million people, and it is steadily growing with each new academic year as more graduates use it for professional networking. Most users join LinkedIn with the intention of posting their resumes and developing contacts within the industry of their choice. However, LinkedIn also provides you with plenty of marketing opportunities through its unique set of elements that sets it apart from other social media platforms.

One of the biggest advantages that LinkedIn has over other social media networks is that it is a business based platform. This means that the users read through the content with the intention of increasing their knowledge, instead of simply trying to entertain themselves. The seriousness of the site makes it perfect for your business to build and develop a thriving professional network. LinkedIn Mobile: What Marketers Need to Know : Social Media Examiner | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Viveka shares that the newest LinkedIn app, the LinkedIn Mobile App is actually an update of the earlier app, but that there are a lot of other apps within LinkedIn people might not know about, such as the Job Search app.

There are also the apps that came with companies purchased by LinkedIn, such as SlideShare and Connected, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool. (Note: After this recording, LinkedIn announced they were retiring the Connected App on March 21, 2016.)In addition, there are tools like the Recruiter app, Sales Navigator, Lookup and Elevate which are associated with LinkedIn’s premium accounts. Then there’s LinkedIn’s news reader, Pulse, and the new Groups app.

Although all of LinkedIn apps are available to iOS users, only some are available on Android, and Viveka reminds listeners that not all of the apps are free.  For example, Elevate is a combination CRM, content management, content curation tool priced for medium to large companies....
